Seriously a delicious drink! I’ve been making hot chocolate using Oregon reishi mushrooms (Ganoderma oregonense). There are so many great reasons to consume medicinal mushrooms and drinking them in either hot chocolate or coffee is an excellent, easy way.
Simply simmer the ground up or finely sliced mushrooms and use the water. Ummmm… that was easy! I simmer the tea for about 30 minutes and then leave the pot on the stove, reheating to boiling every time I make a drink over several days.
After all of the mushroom tea has been drank, some additional healing benefits can be extracted with alcohol, since not all medicinal components are water soluble. This is called a double extraction.
Other medicinal mushrooms can be added, as well, such as turkey tail (Trametes versicolor), chaga (Inonotus obliquus) and red-belted polypore (Fomitopsis pinicola).
Considering the immune stimulating and anti-cancer properties and other good stuff that I’m drinking, I might just live forever, quite happily.
